MANTIS 08: WORLD PREMIER OF COMMISSIONED PIECE 'HYDATOS' BY J.P. OLIVEIRA, FOR FIXED MEDIA (8Chn)

NOVARS's Artist in Resident Joao Pedro Oliveira will premier a new commissioned work at MANTIS Festival 2008 (Fall edition). Oliveira will return to Manchester for our MANTIS festival.

Hydatos (2008)
(8 channel electroacoustic music). Hydatos belongs to a cycle of four pieces inspired by representations of the four elements (fire, water, earth, wind) in the Old Testament. Hydatos is a Greek word that means “water”. This piece is inspired on the first verses of the Old Testament (Genesis Chapter 1:2)

“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” This piece was commissioned by Gulbenkian Foundation e NOVARS, and was composed in the composer’s personal studio and at the NOVARS Research Center in Manchester, UK.

Hydatos é uma palavra grega que significa “água”. Esta obra é inspirada nos primeiros versos do Antigo Testamento (Genesis, Cap. 1: 2)
“E o Espírito de Deus pairava sobre as águas”
Esta obra foi encomendada pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e NOVARS e foi composta no estúdio do compositor e no centro NOVARS em Manchester, UK.
